60 SECOND SAMPLES
The idea behind 60 Second Samples was to illustrate how powerful an instrument could be, even when made from a fairly limited sample set. (typically this is one sample stretched across multiple octaves)
Some of these instruments will make use of random audio captured through the years, while others are earliest iterations of projects on the work bench. (actually a folder on my computer, but that doesn't sound nearly quite as cool)
There's no fancy GUI, which is intended to reduce time spent looking at the screen, so you can quickly get a sound you like, then get stuck in and play.
Each instrument has a Close, Room (think of it more as a space for sound to be in), FX, and Pad signals to blend between. The mics, methods and magic will vary in each case, so we will simply refer to them by their function. They also have a common set of utility fx including a low pass filter (Tone), Chorus, and a reverb.
Look out for the new 60 Second Sample Instruments towards the end of each month and I hope that they offer some inspiration in your own musiking! Thanks, Paul James (I'd love to see/hear what you do with them!)
